he might have lived a century and a half ago, but antonín leopold dvoř,,,ák resonates on. in 2014, the deutsche symphonie- orchester recorded parts of his ninth symphony and released them into the wild for the masses to cut up, stretch out, and have their way with. this is the result of one such experiment. ludwig zibell and martin schmitz translate dvoř,,,ák’s operatic dramatism into a techno moodiness that sees the coming together of two unlikely worlds. alex ketzer’s 5 am reduction is a dubbed-out remix of the remix that plays out and dwells upon some of the moments you might miss listening to it in the orchestra. finally these strange, otherworldly meditations upon music from another time see a vinyl release.

during the recent years, terence fixmer kept on being prolific by producing and releasing his music output on well esteemed quality labels such as ostgut ton, novamute, jealous god and recently on aufnahme+wiedergabe. following a constant workflow, fixmer decided it is now time to restart his label planete rouge which he launched back in 1998 already but has always been irregular in terms of releases. the label will relaunch after a 4-year hiatus with his new 12-. terence fixmer s oppression ep is a great resume of his unique sound design signature, delivering a collection of four energetic tracks that speaks to the soul. on top of it, as an homage to one of his all time favourite tracks of the normal / warm leatherette from 1978, fixmer decided to rewrite this 40 year old tune from daniel miller as a a personal pleasure and fun. by using as well the mini korg 700 s terence fixmer recreated nearly the original sound, keeping a track that is loyal to his own sound as well as its original spirit.

psychedlic electronica on this new fututibile release (sublabel from periodica). icio omeghas psyco cruise is a collection of songs and private recordings made between 1984 and 1991 in his studio on the island of stromboli. icio omegha, formerly known as maurizio aghemo, is a guitarist, a sitarist and keyboard player who was a member of a world music band active in the late 70s (uco, universal condition orchestra). maurizio today is a record collector and painter who runs his art gallery in stromboli where he exhibits his works. currently engaged in the assembly of a modular system, he continues to produce experimental music on the island. over the years, he has explored various musical genres, from ethnic music with an indian flavor, up to the typical electronic digressions of the mid 80s. the only available source of these recordings are original cassette tapes from which futuribile made this selection. a small selection with pieces that best describe his artistic career. the audio was cleaned, re-mastered and edited to make the best possible presentation of these unique recordings of icio omegha who is finaly able to share them with the public. recommended!!!

you got the stuff is not lovely day - that much is true. this ones a wigged out, extended, trip into deep space from 1978 that is truly baffling. of course, it features bill singing for the first half of the track but then all of a sudden we re launched into a cosmic wormhole as everything just falls back and the track is stripped of any earthly qualities. people find themselves asking this, this is bill withers? as lazer guided synths and rock solid drums pull us into the sonic vortex. truly amazing. obviously a nugget like this has not gone unnoticed and has been edited and chopped and sampled deftly by the more sarcastic, left-field oriented crate diggers out there but it has never been reissued legitimately - until now! a hugely sought after and collectible gem right here, backed with the wistful slow jam look to each other for love as per the original 1978 columbia promo 12inch version. this left-field, cosmic classic has been legally reissued by above board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders sony music entertainment. this high quality repress features original columbia pink label disco 12inch artwork and has been remastered from sonys original sources by optimum mastering, bristol uk.

after previously releasing starship commander woooo woooos mastership lp, left ear records have continued excavating the archives of the artist more formally known as omer coleman jr. the result is two handpicked mid 80’s instrumentals salvaged from the original master tapes, as well as an extended vocal edit on the flip for good measure. after laying his alter ego to rest omer made a handful of electronic releases on his own kansas based remo label. of these releases left ear has selected their two favourite instrumentals: lovin babe sure is fun and so good. lovin babe sure is fun was originally released in 85 and was created to celebrate a time in america where the economy was good, people were happy and love was in the air, the essence of which omer captured using his roland 808 and 303 in what may best be described as acid-boogie. so good on the other hand is a sensual downtempo cut shaped with heavy-bass, telephone samples and guitar solos that conjures images of late night rendezvous and compromising scenarios.

philippe cohen solal (of gotan project) celebrates the 50th anniversary of summer of love, covering one of its anthems “aquarius / let the sunshine in” of hair the musical which premiered on stage in october 1967. a complex but soothing modern reggae moombathon riddim carried by the ethereal harmonies of legendary jamaican reggae singer horace andy (massive attack, skylarking, ain’t no sunshine...) with a delivering coda sung by an empowering choir.

never released before on lp, here comes the complete original soundtracks of french cult film composer françois de roubaix for director yves boisset. two movies that embody the two sides of francois de roubaix’s approach to recording. for le saut de l’ange (1971), the self-taught composer wrote an orchestration for some fifty musicians playing strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion with two distinct solo instruments alternating the main theme: indian sitar on the one hand and accordion on the other. r.a.s (1973) was recorded on a 8-track tape recorder, in françois de roubaix’s home studio rue de courcelle, where most of his 70’s scores were recorded. the result is a mix of military-march rhythms, rolls on the snare-drum with sounds of synthi aks syntheziser: de roubaix invented a modern sound for this contemporary-history tragedy.

dutch label field records is back with another special album project, this time from japanese producer ena aka yu asaeda. bridge is an introspective soundtrack for a documentary also called bridge - out this spring - which is about the dejima bridge, a reconstructed symbol of the dutch-japanese trading history in nagasaki, japan. the album finds the producer stepping outside of his usual remit of dark ambient and experimental music, and instead comprises ten shorter tracks that touch on abstract and rhythmic sounds that define the essence of japanese culture. although he has worked with the director before, this is ena s first original sound track and finds him freely inspired by the movie and heading in exciting and unknown directions. hugely atmospheric throughout, there is hypnotic repetition of sounds, strange audio design and a mixture of melancholic moods with more dreamy synths. sometimes gloopy rhythms gently ripple beneath soothing harmonies and at others times a micro-rhythm appears through the constantly shifting and evolving found sound loops. it s a compelling and unusual album that seamlessly mixes human emotions with a mechanical sense of industry.
